In our inaugural Tech2Energy podcast, Garry Golden and I talk about potentially disruptive technology in energy. We discuss how to think about disruptive technology and examples of potential disruptive technologies.
Energy — whether it’s the petroleum industry for transportation, or the electric utility industry for everything else — has a scale to it that appears to work against innovation at the customer end. Certainly, the oil companies are technology innovators for getting to oil through five miles of ocean, but is there hope for consumers to think about using something other than gasoline and diesel to fuel vehicles…or coal and nuclear to boil water to make electricity? As a futurist, Garry Golden brings a perspective that says future doesn’t have to be like the past.
